ORNATE RUGS is a family-run rug maker with roots going back to the early 1970s, when the founder first began trading rugs during his summer holidays in Maimana, a remote market town in Afghanistan. We discovered them at Maison&Objet this year and were instantly drawn in, not just by the rugs themselves, but by the warmth and hospitality of the team. Their pieces carry real character, beautifully made, richly textured, and designed to live effortlessly in both classic and contemporary spaces.

Over the years, ORNATE has grown from a one-person workshop into a respected maker working with trade clients and hospitality projects around the world, with a London showroom established in 1999. They keep a strong level of care in-house, from quality control and finishing through to bespoke orders, and they’re also committed to responsible production, working with natural materials and supporting artisan communities through their Care & Fair partnership.
